My 3 Favorite Face Sunscreens

These are my personal favorites so it is definitely not a comprehensive list. Learning what works for your skin type by trying (high quality) daily facial sunscreens is definitely the best way to see what you like best. A lot of offices offer samples, which I recommend so you can try them out for a few days before spending the money on something that may not work with your skin type.

ELTAMD UV CLEAR

This is my personal go-to daily sunscreen. It is light and doesn't leave any tint or greasy feeling. {My skin type is sensitive, acne-prone, and I have rosacea- I'm so lucky, I know}. I've been using this daily for over 2 years and in the summer I use it as a moisturizer too. Charleston has really hot and humid summers so I don't need any extra product for hydration. (Make sure you always put Vitamin C on your skin first then sunscreen- For how to layer your skincare products click here.).

The entire EltaMD line is awesome. I use the chapstick and this body suncreen on my neck, chest, and arms when we have a beach day.

Obagi Sun Shield Tint SPF 50

This is a first in its class sunscreen that actually deflects heat and unlike most sunscreens, this sun protection product also defends against infrared rays. Perfect for people with rosacea (whose faces get really hot), melasma, and if you are driving in the car a lot. There are two options: Warm and Cool.

Instead of going by skin tone, this sunscreen is designed to match your natural undertone and enhance your natural complexion. Choose the Warm shade if you have yellowish, golden or olive undertones, a darker complexion that tans more easily, or forearm veins that appear more green in color. Use the Cool shade if you have bluish, red or pink undertones, fair skin that sunburns more easily, or forearm veins that appear more blue in color.

COLORSCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE

The Brush-on Sunscreen SPF 50  by Colorscience is the PERFECT addition to the world of sunscreens since all sunscreens need to be reapplied every 2 hours or so. Well obviously no one wants to do that because it would mess up your makeup and it's just a pain. So thank you Colorscience. This is perfect for a beach day when you need regular reapplications to make sure your face is staying protected. (and great for kids as well who are resistant to sunscreen reapplication).
